'Tis the season

Lately I have been knitting madly, trying to fulfill the same promise that I make to myself every year. I'm sure that all crafty people make this same promise to themselves and therefore can relate to how difficult it is to live up to. "This is the year," I tell myself, "that I will make all of my Christmas presents!"

So far I've made a pair of these:

This is the second pair of handwarmers (from pattern "Fetching" on Knitty) that I've made. My first pair I fell hopelessly, head-over-heels in love with, and of course I couldn't bear to part with them. This happens to me too often...I should just accept the fact that I should make two of everything.

After finishing this second pair I patted myself
heartily on the back for finishing my very first Christmas gift of the year. Until I realized that my cousin, the intended recipient of this gift, has a birthday coming up in October. Drat! Birthday presents completed: one. Christmas presents: zero.

I'm now on my third pair:

Knit in lovely grape-colored Italian wool by Karabella for my sister Laura. Whose birthday is December 2nd. *sigh*
